Jesus Calms the Storm ...by Sr. Angela

Rembrandt's "Jesus Calming the Storm"
We know the biblical story about Jesus and his disciples in the boat on the Lake of Galilee during a storm. Of all the crazy things, Jesus was asleep in the boat. He must have been exhausted. The disciples were terrified and woke Jesus up. He calmed the storm and chided them “Oh you of little faith!”
Sister Sharon knows of a young girl a few years ago who needed to have heart surgery. She said “I know what they will find in my heart. Jesus!”

Electrical nodes of the human heart
You might think “How cute and naïve!” Well, Jesus is in my heart too. I had a condition known as “SVT." Essentially, there was an electrical storm in one top chamber (atrium) where the blood kept circulating within that chamber and not being pumped out correctly. My heart pumped faster and faster trying to get the blood to circulate throughout my body, causing me to be so light-headed that I fainted.
Well, Jesus calmed that storm with the help of a doctor and technicians at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. They found the abnormality and ablated the tissue that caused the problem. Thanks be to God, to Jesus and to the doctor (along with the prayers of the Sisters at St. Placid)!
I hope you all keep Jesus in your hearts too. What kind of storm do you have that needs calming?

I'm so glad you're here to share Jesus and the strength he brings within us all. He sailed me through many storms; he did indeed become my anchor, too.

Thank you so much, Kathy. There's no storm that God can't calm (unless, of course, we don't accept the "calm"!). I agree with the anchor too.
